To achieve carbon neutrality, Missoula's Conservation & Climate Action Plan (CCAP) is organized in three focus areas:
When implemented collectively, each focus area works like a cog in a gear to emphasize the impact of each individual action. Each focus area chapter of the plan recommends and details individual strategies. Strategies include background, projected implementation costs, annual energy and dollar savings, and annual avoided emissions where possible. Estimates and projections are based on researched published research, case studies and best practices from established agencies and sources. Exact figures will be tracked and reported after implementation where possible and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Strategies included in this plan are intended to be the first in a series of Plan updates as the City adjusts to the changing realities of economics, technology, government policies, and our ecosystems.
