Subdivision
Subdivision review regulates the division of land to ensure compliance with applicable state and City of Missoula laws and ordinances. If you are considering a possible division of your property, call or email the Zoning Information desk to submit an intake form and request a preapplication meeting. Click here for an overview of the subdivision review process.
There are two types of subdivision applications:
- Major Subdivision (PDF): containing more than 5 lots
- Minor Subdivision (PDF): containing 5 or fewer lots.
Planned Unit Developments
Planned Unit Development (PUD) applications are for those subdivision projects that require additional flexibility from subdivision design standards, allowing for additional creativity in design of a subdivision project. Projects that may benefit from PUD regulations include: enhancement or protection of natural areas, traditional urban development, mixed-use developments, affordable housing, and other projects that might be constrained by site-specific conditions.
For more information or to request a meeting to discuss potential PUD projects, call or email the Zoning Information desk.
Subdivision Exemptions
Development Services reviews subdivision exemption applications (PDF) for zoning compliance and other applicable land use rules and regulations.
Annexation
For more information on requesting annexation of your property into the City, contact Development Services at 406-552-6630.
