Chinese Cemetery Interpretive Panel Dedication Ceremony

The filmmakers behind the documentary The Bodies Beneath Us, the City of Missoula Historic Preservation Office, and Missoula Parks and Recreation unveiled a new interpretive panel in Sgt. Don Gregory Park on June 6, 2025.

The panel was commemorates a long-overlooked cemetery in the Lower Rattlesnake, established in the late 1800s, where many members of Missoula's early Chinese community were buried and the site was unmarked. It recognizes this vital piece of Missoula's history and the community efforts to honor it.

The following City of Missoula and Missoula County joint resolution was passed and adopted on August 14, 2023, to recognize and commemorate Missoula's historic Chinese community: City Resolution 8698/County Resolution 2023-051
