Comment on draft master plans for Whitaker and Ninkpata parks
Proposed plans and Public Comment Survey - Comments accepted through January 31.
Missoula Parks and Recreation unveiled draft master park plans for two Farviews-Pattee Canyon neighborhood parks at a public open house on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Staff presented the draft master park plans, summarized the design process and explained the next steps for future park development. Residents are invited to comment on the proposed plans through January 31.
Neighborhood residents attended a Park Design Workshop in September 2018 to share their design ideas and priorities for the parks. Parks and Recreation planners incorporated workshop results into the park designs, which include amenities like multi-use sport courts, playgrounds and open green space. In addition, the proposed park plans incorporate the findings of the 2008 Farviews-Pattee Canyon Park Study.
A master park plan is a comprehensive, community vision for a park, which guides park future development. When the final master park plans are adopted, Parks and Recreation can pursue funding for park development through the City budget, state and federal grants, impact fees and private and public partnerships. The planning process and site inventory are funded by Parks and Recreation.
