The Landlord Engagement Pilot-Program (LEP) is a City of Missoula initiative designed to build strong, collaborative relationships between landlords and tenants while expanding access to stable, long-term housing for community members facing barriers. The pilot program provides meaningful support to property owners and renters alike, helping ensure tenancies start strong, communication stays open, and small concerns are addressed before they become major challenges. Through this partnership-based approach, the City aims to create a rental environment where more residents can maintain safe, secure homes and where landlords feel supported every step of the way.

Program Features Include:

  • Direct support from the City’s Property Engagement Specialist, offering guidance, communication assistance, and coordination throughout the rental relationship.
  • Tenant support services, including coaching, navigation assistance, and regular education opportunities to help renters succeed in long-term housing.
  • Connection to mediation services, available to both landlords and tenants to resolve concerns early and collaboratively.
  • Recognition opportunities, highlighting participating property owners who contribute to housing stability in Missoula.

This program centers the success of both landlords and tenants because stable homes and strong partnerships benefit our entire community.
